Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of illustrating some great
projects for Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)!
#ProjectGompei
For this project I illustrated a series of clothing and accessory stickers for a paper doll version of WPI’s beloved goat mascot, Gompei. WPI sent it out to the incoming freshmen of 2019 to act as a “two-dimensional muse” as they started their educational journey!
I’d like to note that the likeness of Gompei here is based on illustrations by Mel Rainsberger — my job was to give him fun a new wardrobe to play with! Learn about Gompei’s mascot rebrand and see more of Mel’s work at melrainsberger.com
“Gompei's fashion options are just as diverse as the paths you can choose to take here at WPI. Build out his wardrobe the way you'd build out your future: a few solid staples, a cozy, well-loved favorite, and just enough room for something new and different—a little spark of innovation.”
This project was a blast! I’m especially proud of the Shakespearean get-up.
Campus Maps & Building Icons
In addition to Gompei’s new wardrobe, I also got to illustrate two new maps of WPI’s campus. A print version for incoming freshmen and new students (see above) with special icons calling out some of WPI’s key landmarks, and a second version (below) which covers more area of WPI’s campus.
It’s all in the details…
See (below) some up-close detail shots and areas that were cut from the final version.
Such a fun time with color and texture!
